Welcome Home to VSPA! I am writing to you on behalf of the membership of the Vietnam Security Police Association, Inc. (USAF). A thousand plus, and still growing, we extend our sincere appreciation to all who strive to preserve our history and honor our 111 fallen brothers.

VSPA was formed for many reasons: to reunite friends, to preserve the memory of our fallen brothers, the history of our service in Vietnam, and to ensure that the hard lessons learned in Vietnam and Thailand would not be forgotten. Lessons of life and death, forged in war, tempered in battle, that when remembered will provide inspiration to Airmen who are yet to taste combat defending the fortress, and pride for those who have fought and bled with us.

We relish contact with current members of the USAF Security Forces, support training at the Security Forces Academy, and provide awards that are presented annually at the Academy. The officers of the association are elected by the membership during our annual meeting and reunion. Officers serve a two-year term and conduct the daily business of the association so that others may enjoy the camaraderie of their association while fulfilling our mission to preserve history.

The officers of the VSPA sincerely appreciates the part you may have played as an Air Police or Security Police officer during the war years in Vietnam and Thailand. We thank you for remembering our fallen brothers, and honoring our members.

Welcome Home to a very special brotherhood. You may have enjoyed web page stories and photos of bases and squadrons we served at during the Vietnam War. Through our web pages, and Guardmount publication, we want to tell every story, post every photo, crest, patch, and banner, for every base and squadron we served at in Vietnam and Thailand-- for every year of the Vietnam War . And with your help, we will do just that .

I Support K9 Veterans Day

In December of 1987 we gave birth to what is now a nation wide effort to honor all the dogs of all our wars, and today that first story in Dog World magazine has lead us to this campaign to give K9 Veterans their own special day. They served to save, and they deserve to be remembered.

Now this is truly a unique memorial undertaking, as we speak for those who have no voice. And like the dogs who themselves asked for nothing but appreciation, this memorial effort is not asking for your money, we only ask that you wish to honor the dogs.

The goal here is to get Congress to make March 13 the official annual day for remembering our K9 Veterans. You see, the United States K9 Corps was officially born on March 13, 1942, making them long overdue their day.

K9 Veterans Day will then honor all the dogs of all our wars, to include the present war on terror. It will be a day when many breeds, plus mix breeds are celebrated, as all have served in times of war. And because of 9/11 this day will also celebrate the honorable service of Search and Rescue Dogs, Police Dogs, Customs Dogs, Border Patrol Dogs, Secret Service Dogs, ATF Dogs, FBI Dogs, and more, as all are now involved in guarding our precious freedoms against terrorist.

March 13, 2008 is going to be a day when everyone can have a part, as I am simply asking that people, groups, whatever, do their own thing to bring attention to what the day means. Why you could decorate your local dog park that day, and simply be there to tell people why, or get your Mayor to make an official proclamation that day to pay tribute to the dogs, or help us to get names on our petition to Congress (ask me for a copy). I have made a list of additional ideas on our menu, and you are certainly welcome to send me your own ideas. Simply put, we are just laying a foundation this coming March, and then we will build on it towards getting Congress to act. Your participation would be greatly appreciated, and please contact us if you are going to participate.

Sincerely,
Joseph J. White
